Orphan CareWhile the most fundamental right of a child is to be cared for, many of the 153 million orphans around the world live in appalling conditions. This is especially true of orphans in poor African countries where a child is orphaned every 15 seconds.
We at Time to Help UK have been striving to make a difference for these orphans, and in 2015 we built an orphanage in the African country of Burundi. This was the result of one year of preparation work involving volunteers and donation collections. The orphanage, called ‘Gulen Yuz’, hosts 100 orphan girls and was established to save children from child labour, which a quarter of local children are engaged in.
Our next project was the refurbishment of the orphanage called ‘Mama Fauzia’ in Kenya in 2016. With the help of collected donations we repaired the building and bought equipment and necessary items such as work desks, whiteboards, and chairs, a hot water solar system, and equipment for a playground area and kitchen.
Although we have achieved a lot by helping these orphans to find a home, the two orphanages rely on donations, and they need continued support to be able to operate.
We believe that the best of houses is the house where an orphan gets love and welfare. Donate to add happiness to the lives of millions of awaiting orphans.
